April 5, 2015, JANE’S HEART TO HEART … Pastor’s Help Mate

Kristyn Getty said….”We can be easily fooled into thinking that our worth is found in the things that we have, in the successes and failures of life, how we look, how we don’t look and it’s important to remind ourselves continually that those who know the Lord find their worth supremely and ultimately in Christ.

My Worth Is Not in What I Own

1.  My worth is not in what I own    Not in the strength of flesh and bone

But in the costly wounds of love           At the cross

2.  My worth is not in skill or name    In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed     At the cross

3.  As summer flowers we fade and die    Fame, youth and beauty hurry by

But life eternal calls to us                      At the cross

4’  I will not boast in wealth or might     Or human wisdom’s fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ           At the cross

5.  Two wonders here that I confess     My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed,   my ransom paid           t the cross

I rejoice in my Redeemer    Greatest Treasure,
Wellspring of my soul       I will trust in Him, no other.
My soul is satisfied in Him alone.

What a reminder that our lives are not ultimately in the hands of people—even sinful or wicked people. Our lives are not in the hands of circumstances, even painful or difficult ones. And our lives are not in the hands of fate or chance. Our lives are in the hands of God. If we are children of God, then our lives are in His hands, and there is no safer place to be in all of creation than in the hands of God.

There is a song of Getty’s that  I love to sing and our praise team will be singing this today…. And I would like to quote a few lines from that song for you to pay attention to as they sing it today.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,    This is the power of Christ in me;

From life’s first cry to final breath,    Jesus commands my destiny.

Matthew 6:26   “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

Thank you Jane for this reminder. I love listening to this CD on my way to work, reminds me that I belong to Him and nothing is more important than that! Also reminds me that I am His servant doing His work and He enables me! Love you, dear friend!
