April 12, 2015    Jane’s Heart to Heart     ….Pastor’s Help Mate

Well some  of us think it is coming slowly…. We want it yesterday!

This is a time for planning for vacation.  I know we all look forward to getting away and for physical rest and often come home more tired out than when we left. Personally I always sing the little tune, as I come up the steps in the the kitchen “Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home”.

Are your plans for refreshing your body, such as going to the beach,  a ball park…an entertainment park,  maybe a famous or Historical site, even (God forbid) a casino. Have you noticed their ploy to advertise this wicked place to our children.  Yes, I repeat, “God Forbid”. To give you the definition of the word ploy =  “a cunning plan or action designed to turn a situation to one’s advantage.”  You surely don’t think they are trying to “Help” families. NOT! These places are all about money.

Have you ever thought about the fact that you might need spiritual refreshing.

Yes, I know that some of you may be sitting here saying, come on Jane, are you from another planet and I have to answer, “Yes I am”,  I am planning on going to heaven some day.

Have you planned ahead where you will attend a good Bible preaching church on  the Sunday or Wednesday night of your vacation –  or how many gospel tracts you will need with you to give out to the various people with whom you come into contact.  (clerks, ticket holders, gas station attendants, motels and restaurant workers). Remember Mat. 5: 14 says “Ye are the Light of the world….”

Maybe we need to look heavenward and quote Psalm 23:3…… Help me out, what is that verse.  We all surely should have that Scripture memorized…..by now….  Hardly ever do we attend a funeral without hearing that passage quoted or read to us.  Why is it that we have to wait for the death of a loved one  to be reminded  that the Lord “restores our soul”?  Say it with me…..1. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want….2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside still waters.. 3. He restoreth my soul….He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for His name sake.”

How about your soul?  Do you ever take a vacation with the idea in mind that you will refresh your soul and allow Him to lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name sake?

What about a Bible Conference,  or a Christian camp for families or just  spend more time with the Lord in prayer and Bible Study.  Perhaps our need for refreshment is truly a spiritual need more than a physical need. Are you hungering and thirsting after righteousness? Mat. 5:6  “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Ask the Lord for  Biblical Spiritual discernment.

Let’s consider more time with the Lord and allowing Him to fill us with Himself during your vacation this year.

Allow the Holy Spirit to refresh you from the inside out so that when you finish your “vacation” you will be ready to return to your work with a new “JOY” in your heart and a greater desire to win your neighbor or coworker to Christ.

Let’s try  to include the Lord and allow HIm to refresh our souls during our vacations this year.
