MEMORIAL DAY

Angelina Jolie tells much of Louis Zamperini’s extraordinary life in the film “Unbroken,” released in 2014 after his death in July, but the rest of his story is being told in a short film released from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association “Captured By Grace”, on December 25, the same day Unbroken was released.

Zamperini was a former Olympian distance runner who spent 47 days on a raft in the Pacific Ocean before being captured and tortured by the Japanese. His gripping life story told in the best-selling book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption,” moved Jolie so much that it drove the actress to make a film about his journey. .  The movie covered just 33 out of 39 of the book’s chapters and only mentioned in passing Mr Zamperini’s pivotal 1949 conversion to Jesus Christ,”

Franklin Graham, told Fox News, that though “Unbroken” is an excellent adaptation of the Laura Hillenbrand’s book on Zamperini, the film has skipped essential parts in the former prisoner of war’s story, particularly concerning his Christian faith.

“The most important part of the book”, Mr. Graham said, since they explain how Mr. Zamperini really became ‘unbroken’ was his post-war struggles with revenge, nightmares, alcoholism and a failing marriage”  These were turned around after he gave his life to Jesus Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade revival led by the legendary evangelist.   Mr. Graham told Fox News that Mr. Zamperini was at first reluctant to take the elder Graham’s offer to put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ. But he did, and went home that night, got rid of his pornography, his alcohol and his cigarettes, and found the Bible given to him in the military.

Zamperini said, “I started to leave the tent meeting, and I felt [awfully] guilty about my life.   “Yes, I had a lot of great times, a lot of great experience, a lot of escape from death, but I still didn’t like my life after the war. I came home alive. God kept His promise. I hadn’t keep mine, and so I went forward and accepted Christ.”

Mr. Zamperini gives his own testimony on the DVD, and said  “ When I found Christ as his Savior, that was the heart of my whole life.

That is what conversion to Christ.should be like….

A complete change in your life .
