January 10, 2016 JANE’S HEART TO HEART

2 Timothy 3:6-7  (KJV)  6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,  7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

The women mentioned in II Timothy 3 were always learning. The reason they were taken captive by false teaching—and were unable to “arrive at knowledge of the truth”—wasn’t due to a lack of information. It was due to a lack of holy desires. You see, right thinking and right living go hand in hand. If you are unprepared to live the way God wants you to, chances are, you’ll reject sound teaching and will simply gravitate toward teachers who will tell you what you want to hear.

Turn off the talk shows, turn off the soap operas….  all of this type of information can confuse your thinking of what is truth,  purity and honesty.

Stay away from reading that which does not confirm your faith.  Reading worldly novels or tabloids will only turn your desires to worldly ideas and desires. Often these distorted thoughts and opinions can cause depression and discontent with the things that really count for eternity.  Guide your children and grandchildren to read literature that is character building and up-lifting.

Are you discouraged or doubting your faith? Perhaps it is because you have stepped away from the things which will strengthen your faith: Church attendance, Bible Reading, Prayer, and encouraging others who need Christ. Perhaps you need to turn your back on the things which steal your JOY.

JUST REMEMBER THIS…

Are there any steps you need to take in obedience to God?  If so, what are you waiting for.

Leviticus 20:26 (KJV)  And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

You are set apart, Oh What a high calling…. How would this New Year be different if you were more conscious of this fact. Thank the Lord that he has chosen you to be His and set about to honor Him more in 2016.
