May 15, 2016  Jane’s Heart to Heart    …. Pastor’s Help Mate

The Lord’s Angels

As our children Jim and Melony Evans finished up their move last week, Jim also worked delivering trucks all over several states. Ken decided to help them by returning our son Nathan’s trailer Sunday afternoon. Nathan was at home with a few of the children,  because one was ill, so Jennifer had gone to Ohio to see her folks for Mother’s Day, with Audrey Jayne.  So Ken decided to do him a favor and go to see Nathan Sunday afternoon to be company to Nathan and help Jim catch some rest so that he could spend his Monday off on some of his unpacking and setting up his workshop.

Melony had sweetly gotten up early and prepared our dinner. We were planning on leaving around 3 PM so that we could stop by the funeral home for a visitation of our former neighbor friend near the Jonesville Baptist Church.  George Schutes’  home bordered the property and he used a small portion of the church property to put  his horses out to graze.  http://www.eaglefuneralhomes.com/Obituary/5070/George_Schutes.   We started out toward Hillsdale on Sterling Rd. and right away I realized that I might have a problem because the trailer caused the car to lurch a bit and I mentioned to Ken that perhaps I should go back home.  Ken assured me that it would not be bad once we were on the state route.  Indeed, when we reached  route 49 it was not as bad and we decided not to go to the visitation and we would go to the funeral on Mon. So we turned and went to Litchfield to follow route 99 north to Homer and then follow route 60 west.  As we traveled toward Tekonsha  the trailer suddenly lurched hard and we realized that we had a very serious problem.  I immediately called out to the Lord for help and safety for everyone around us. With the Lord’s help, Ken was able to pull the car off to the side of the road without event.

Thank you, Father!  Now what?  Ken stepped out of the car and went back to survey the situation and made an attempt to work on it and came back to the car and asked me to call Jim to come and help us get the trailer reattached, because he was not strong enough to do it alone.  While I was calling, a young man with a truck stopped behind us and offered his help. Shortly, they were able to reattach the trailer after realizing the pin was improperly inserted. While they were working another young man stopped to help. It turned out that they were friends on the way to the same place.  They dated sisters. The three of them were scratching their heads and hoping the pin stayed put. Ken reached in his pocket for a  gospel tract and offered the young men money. Immediately the first one thanked him with a big smile and said, “Oh. thank you, I am a Christian”, and pointing to this friend  said, “He is too”.  As Ken offered them money the first young man said, “This is enough”, as he pointed to Ken’s cross. Not only that, but the second young man said, Aren’t you the preacher from the church over on Sterling Road? My dad goes there.”

Yes, the Lord brought us through what could have been a very serious event and not only that,  he sent “Two Angels” to help us.  Thank You, Lord.
