October 2, 2016  Jane’s Heart to Heart   …Pastor’s Help Mate

I have been especially blessed by the song  “Fall On Your Knees” from the Cantata Night of the Father’s Love, (The Awe and Mystery of God with Us) Pepper Choplin – Lorenz Corporation. the song quotes from the old familiar carol.“O Holy Night”.  I believe it was the last musical I directed in 2011.

The song speaks of looking into the face of the Christ child and seeing the world’s salvation and Holy Peace. It reminds us to see the glory and the wonder and to know the peace that comes from being in fellowship with the Lord.   We can experience this in prayer together.

It comes to my mind so often when I am going to prayer for those for whom   I have promised to pray.  Sometimes it is overwhelming to me. I cry out to the  Lord, asking Him to help me to be sure to remember those in need and to ask for the right thing;  To ask for the Lord’s will and not mine nor the person’s desire for whom I am praying .

I am humbled when someone asks me to pray for  him/her and saddened when I say to him/her that I am praying for you or a loved one and that person responds with a concerned or dismayed look and will ask, “What is wrong or why are you praying for me?  I have even had someone react, with, “Don’t pray for me!” With fear in their eyes.

I wonder Is the fear  conviction or concern of having to turn from some besetting sin? Matt. 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We need to “Fall on our Knees” and cry out to the Lord seeking first HIS will for us and our loved ones.  This is hard to pray when we see someone heading the wrong direction in his/her life, but even harder to see the result  that  follows disobedience.

Here in our church, we should have a great desire to be prayed for and to pray for others, just because it is right, according to the Scriptures. The doors of our church on prayer meeting night should be swinging wide each week.

Matthew 18:19-20  KJV) 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Please come and join us on Wednesday night  to call out, in prayer for our Nation, Come to praise and experience the wonderful peace we can experience in Prayer.
