November 27, 2016 Jane’s Heart to Heart   …Pastor’s Help Mate

Thanksgiving is past.  You have already had some leftover turkey sandwiches or pot pie. Yes, today some of you may still choose some turkey at our dinner.

But let’s remember that our Thanksgiving should be, an all year around event.

In the morning when I rise, Give me Jesus. You can have all this world but, Give me Jesus.

You can choose to say,In the morning, when I rise, Give Me Jesus.  When I am alone,   Give me Jesus…You can have all this world, Give me Jesus. When I come to die, Give me Jesus.”

Early in your life you can choose as Mrs Ruth Graham did,  you too can choose Christ for you center, your home, your purpose your example and your vision.

Give Me Jesus lyrics © Hal Leonard Corporation

We can all make that choice today.

Psalm 72:18-19   “Blessed is the LORD God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things, and blessed be his glorious name forever and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen and Amen.

I Will Praise Him Still

When the morning comes on the farthest hill

I will sing His name, I will praise Him, still.

When dark trials come and my heart is filled

With the weight of doubt, I will praise Him, still.

(Chorus)

For the Lord, our God, He is strong to save

From the arms of death, from the deepest grave,

And He gave us life in His perfect will,

And by His good grace, I will praise Him, still.

Today at our church was Gideon Sunday….

Gideon International  Motto

“Let.s Spread the Good News”              Judges 7

Gideon was a man who was willing to do exactly what God wanted him to do, regardless of his own judgment as to the plans or results. Humility, faith, and obedience were his great elements of character. This is the standard that The Gideons International is trying to establish in all its members, each man to be ready to do God’s will at any time, at any place, and in any way that the Holy Spirit leads.

Forever Thankful

Being forever thankful,

Is what God wants from us,

Never forgetting from where we came,

Or His boundless, saving love

All of heaven’s blessings

Poured down from heaven’s gates,

Everything we have in life,

He’s given with extra grace

We need to always thank Him

For this, and so much more

Not only for tangible things,

But because He is our Lord

Thanksgiving is the key

For His blessings to increase,

If we’ve not got thankful hearts,

His blessings soon will cease

Don’t ever start complaining

At what you may not have,

Look around at what you see,

Then be thankful and glad

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.   1 Thessalonians 5: 18(NKJV)

And in that day you will say: “Praise the Lord, call upon His name; declare His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His name is exalted.”   Isaiah 12: 4(NKJV)

bike-free-vintage-clip-art-images-vintage-tandem-bicycle-clip-art-t9dftg-clipartJim and Melony Evans are moving Tuesday, to Ohio, to  a new ministry. Melony and her dad have worked all week doing all they could to lighten the load while Jim was finishing his last days of work in Lansing. I sat here in my office and prayed for them as I  heard both of them literally running up and down the steps bringing box after box to the garage from the upstairs and the basement.

I thought of when I taught Children’s ministries, of Paul’s missionary journeys. I felt a tug in my heart as I thought  of the changes that new  ministries bring.

This little story speaks of this Cautious Journey toward real JOY.  I found IT in Juanita Purcell’s,  “Joyous Journeys,   Around the Detours” RBP.

THE BIKE RIDE

At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited Heaven or Hell when I die. He was out there sort of like the President. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I didn’t really know Him.  But later on when I recognized Christ, it seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride; but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal. I don’t know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since…  life with Him as LORD, that is. He makes life exciting.

When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places and at breakneck speeds. It was all I could do to hang on! Even though it looked like madness, He said, “Pedal!”

I worried and was anxious and asked, “Where are You taking me?” He laughed and didn’t answer, and I started to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure; and when I’d say, “I’m scared, ” He’d lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy. They gave me their gifts to take on my journey; our journey, my Lord’s and mine.

And we were off again. He said, “Give the gifts away. They’re extra baggage, too much weight.” So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him at first, in control of my life. I thought he’d wreck it. But He knew bike secrets, knew how to make it bend to take sharp corners, jump to clear high places filled with rocks, fly to shorten scary passages.

And I’m learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I’m beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, my Higher Power.

And when I’m sure I can’t do anymore, He just smiles and says, “PEDAL!”

Phil.3:14     “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

God Is Still On The Throne….

God Is Still On The Throne….

flag-63f6642b64e106a8947daafa44e52b21Reminder to us all…. God is Still on the Throne.
Many Christians prayed and now we are trusting Him.

Isaiah 26:3-4

“3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
4.Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
We can have peace and JOY in these hard times.
Now it is our job to continue to pray for our leaders…. Many Christian leaders have emphasized PRAYER to the Lord JEHOVAH and I am especially thankful for Franklin Graham, Ann Graham Lotz and Nancy DeMoss and many others who raised awareness of Christian’s need to pray and get out and vote.

I am thankful also for the strong testimony of Vice Pres. elect, Mike Pence.

I personally want to encourage all of my friends to pray fervently for our leaders, and fellow Christian to strive to make a difference for Christ, in your homes, churches, and communities.
1. to personally pray more (not like a rabbit’s foot) but for His perfect will in your own personal life.
2. to read your Bibles
3. to go and take every member of your family, faithfully to a solid Bible preaching Church.

For many years I have heard professing Christians saying, “we need the 10 Commandments, the Bible, and God back in our schools, etc.”, yet there is very little evidence that there is Bible reading and instruction in the Word, nor Church attendance, in those homes.

Often when we talk with those who say they are saved it is very obvious that Christ is not first, Bible reading is not first, church attendance is not first. If you love God and truly want to serve God, you will want to run to church, you will want to share Him with others. You will want to choose the things for your children that will make them better servants of Christ. Some parents do not even know if their children are saved nor do they pray for them. Many professing Christians put far more emphasis and money, sports, travel, and entertainment, watching “dancing with the falling Stars”,  you name it; than they do on seeing to it that their children give their talent to him for His glory.

We seem to be better at using the Scriptures to prove the questionable practices we can participate in.

These things are caught, faster than they are taught… Be an Example.
Parents: read Deuteronomy 6:6-9
