Ps. 71:22-24 KJV,   22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.  23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.  24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

A few years ago I began to develop dysphonia and of course it has affected my ability to sing. I have shared before but some of you are new that I have always signed all my correspondence ” Singing His Praise” and now I sign with “Still Singing His Praise in my Heart”.

I have determined in my Heart to continue to lift my Heart in praise for His Glory. On Sunday morning when the songs are sung, I begin to sing very softly and am able to sing about three lines and then I have to stop, for the pain, severe ache in my throat, but then I just mouth the words so that I will not be a bad testimony and truly try to think of the words in my heart as if I were singing them JOYOUSLY.

Now that I am teaching Kid’s Chapel I cannot sing at all so that I will have enough voice to speak in chapel…. It isn’t the broken voice that causes me to stop, but the pain. I say all this, not to bring sympathy, because I can not cease to Praise the Lord for the many years He has allowed me to use my voice for His Glory as He allowed me to sing un-numbered solos and teach others to sing in private voice lessons and choirs in our churches and Christian Schools.

I share this to emphasize  and help us to comprehend God’s righteous affect on our lives.    Yes, I rebelled, and I cried out to God, I had some bitterness and I was hurt. But through his GRACE, I determined not to be a “wimpy, whiney woman”, or as I say “gave myself a swift kick” and strive to “get over it” and “let it go”.

Ps. 109:30-31 (KJV)  30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

We can know He is standing with us in every attempt we make to honor Him in every weakness and other areas in which we struggle.

Psalm 73:24 24 “Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.”

NOV. 23, 2014   JANE’S  HEART TO HEART  …Pastor’s Help Mate

This is Thanksgiving week and It is Always Time to Praise the Lord

God tells us to praise Him.   Psalm 147:1 states that it is good to sing praises to our god.  As I praise the Lord and thank Him in all circumstances, I find that I focus my attention on who He is and His power; on His characteristics and not my circumstances.  It is good to praise the Lord; as I praise Him, He is glorified.

There are many Scriptures in the Bible that you can pray back to Him.

Revelation 4:11   “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”  NIV

Phil. 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Exodus 15:2  “The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Ps. 59:17  “O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.”

Eph. 1:3 “Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Ps. 145:3 “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”

Luke 19:37 “Luke 19:37-40 (NIV) ”When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!  Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!. Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “ I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Psalm 34:3  “Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.”

Prayer: God, I praise You, You alone are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power for you created all things. Help me to be obedient, to praise Your name, and to give you all honor and glory.  I desire to be thankful in all circumstances, even those that are difficult.  When I do not understand all that is happening, My desire is to be obedient and  praise You thankfully.   You alone are my strength and song, I exalt You.  You are worthy of praise that if I do not praise You, the rocks will cry out.  Hallelujah!  In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

Part 3: PSALM 23: 2a “…He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;”

PSALM 23: 2a “…He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;”

Sheep graze from dawn until midmorning then the shepherd leads them to new green pastures which they can’t find on their own, or they will eat the grass to the bare ground. Once the sheep eat all they need they must lie down and chew their cud.  If one sheep bullies or butts another, this upsets all the sheep. They  refuse to lie down, their food cannot digest and they soon lose weight and grow weak.  The shepherd stops the fighting at once and the sheep lie down to chew their cud. Just as a shepherd calms his flock as he sits down among them, Jesus will calm you with His peace.  He does not want you to feel upset.

In Lettie Cowman”s  book Streams in the Desert, P. 257) she writes of an experience shared by the captain, when on a steamer just  off the coast of Newfoundland.      He said, “The last time I crossed here, five weeks ago, something happened which changed my whole Christian life.

Missionary George Mueller of Bristol was on board. He told me that he needed to be in Quebec Saturday afternoon and when I told him it is was impossible he told me that he had never missed a speaking engagement in 57 years and if the ship could not take him that God would find another way. He then suggested that we go to the chart room and pray. I looked at that man of God and thought to myself, “this man must be crazy”.  I said to him, “Surely you do not know what a dense fog this is.”

He said, “My eye is not on the fog, but on the living God who controls every circumstance of my life.”  He knelt down and prayed the most simple prayer I had ever heard, and when he had finished I was going to pray: but he put his hand on my shoulder and told me not to pray. “First, you do not believe He will answer; and second I BELIEVE HE HAS, and there is no need whatever for you to pray about it.” Get up, Captain …open the door, and you will find the fog gone.”  I got up, and indeed, the fog was gone. George Mueller was in Quebec for his engagement.  George Mueller had a great unswerving faith in the Good Shepherd.

You can give you burdens to the Shepherd, and show your husband,  children, parents, grandchildren, neighbors and co-workers the Lord can bring peace around you by your own example of trust in your Shepherd in every area of you life.  Just like a sheep lying down in green pastures…. You too can rest in Christ’s promises.

If our love were but more simple,

We should take Him at His word;

And our lives would be all sunshine,

In the sweetness of the Lord.

PSALM 23: 2a

“…He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;”

"I Guess the Only Thing We Can Do Now is Pray.."

parsonage

So often we who know the Lord try to do everything we can to fix things and change things and then as I heard on the news yesterday some one said. “I guess the only thing we can do now is pray..”

Prayer is not a good luck charm nor a rabbit’s foot…..

Lord, help us to seek YOUR face without ceasing and stay in YOUR WORD in obedience with right heart attitude.

Help us to call out to YOU first for guidance to make right choices and allow You to guide us.

As a young person I learned this Scripture and it has blessed me so much. I have to remind myself of this when ever I try to fix things myself.

Memorize Ps. 100. Repeat it over and over… think about it’s meaning.

The following is my capsulized version… REJOICE IN THE LORD… SERVE HIM WITH GLADNESS… COME BEFORE HIS PRESENCE… KNOW HE I S GOD… HE MADE US… WE ARE THE SHEEP… HE IS THE SHEPHERD… GIVE THANKS DAILY… PRAISE HIM… BE THANKFUL… BLESS HIS NAME… THE LORD IS GOOD… HIS MERCY IS EVERY LASTING… HIS TRUTH ENDURES THROUGH ALL GENERATIONS….

Shout this out to the Lord today… And everyday. Then when trials come you can just lift your hands and heart to HIM and say humbly “I’m here Lord, direct my path and hold out your hand to him like a small child would do.”

GOD is faithful. He will lead you through that trail sweetly.

2014 ANNUAL CHALLEMGE – TO BE LIKE JESUS

My 2014 GOAL

The more of HIS WORD I have in me,

The more like HIS SON I will be. God helping me.

PSALM 119:11

“THY WORD HAVE I HID IN MY HEART

THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST THEE.”

WHY?

II TIMOTHY 2:15 SAYS:   “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.”

Read Psalm 119 and bask in the truth of the significance of being in the Word of God and having the Word in you to address all of life’s issues.

This past year in June we decided to give the little book “Treasure Path to Soul Winning” by J.O. Grooms1970 to all the folk in our church and then to all of our family that can read. This little book encourages Scripture memory to facilitate Soul Winning.

Psalm 42:1-2 As the hart (deer) panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God, My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God?”

Every year right after Christmas, I begin thinking what to do the next year for my family and loved ones for Christmas that cost little monetarily yet will be significant and my final realization this year after Christmas was over I realized that the most important thing that I can give them is a wife, mother, grandmother or friend who is living the Word and praying for them. The only real gift of value.

This is my continuing Goal for 2014 and my gift to others, the Lord willing.

Knowing God and His word will help me to be productive for HIS GLORY.

My song for this year is:

TO BE LIKE JESUS

Words and Music by Dick and Melodie Tunney, ©1989 LCS Songs, Pamela Kay Music, Dick & Mel Music/ASCAP

A little boy is crying for affection.    A little girl needs a hand to hold.

And oh, how he loves those little children.   How he longs to be a friend to young and old.

His tender spirit welcomes all who seek Him.  His giving heart asks little in return.

And I have found his promises faithful.   I seek to live my life that I may learn …

Chorus

To be like Jesus, To be like Jesus.  To be the one I was created to be.

To be like Jesus, To be like Jesus.   May all who see my heart find Him in me.

When I received His supreme salvation  His heavenly love filled my earthly soul.

And I became His new creation.  My brokenness He made completely whole.

And through the darkness of this world I’ve been commissioned

To be a light that shines for Him alone.  Surrounded by His infinite mercy,

May my life always be known …  My only earthly goals fulfilled

When I’m centered in His will.  May all who see my life find Him in me.

John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”

WHEN YOU KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST EVERYTHING WILL COME INTO FOCUS”    ODB
